These light and fluffy pancakes have a delicate orange flavor that is nicely complemented by Apple-Maple Fusion.

1/1/3 cups whole wheat flour

2/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

2 tsp baking powder

1/2tsp baking soda

1 cup fortified soy or rice milk

¼ cup unsweetened applesauce

3 tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed (undiluted)

Directions:

Combine flour, oats, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl. In a a separate bowl whisk together milk, applesauce, and juice concentrate. Pour into dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon.

Batter will be slightly lumpy. Oil a large nonstick skillet and place over medium –high heat. Spoon batter into hot skillet using 2 level tablespoons for each pancake. Cook second side briefly until golden. Lightly oil skillet batches to prevent sticking.

Apple-Maple Fusion Topping

Pure maple syrup is unquestionable delicious, but it is also high in calories and a bit expensive. To reduce the cost to your waistline and your wallet, try this fabulous blend. It is the perfect topping for pancakes, waffles, or French toast.

Ingredients:

½ cup pure maple syrup

½ cup unsweetened applesauce

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Spring is coming so we need more energy and immunity boosting meals. Try this Healthy Breakfast Recipe if you want to feel and look fabulous all day long. I adopted it from Food as Medicine by Dharma Singh Khalsa and think it is worth trying if you want to lower cholesterol and high blood pressure, strengthen your heart and immune system by reducing inflammation.

Did you know that it is easier for you to lose weight when you reduce inflammation?alm1

Ingredients:

5 almonds

5 walnuts

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated or chopped

½ tsp. extra virgin olive oil

1 cup organic plain yogurt

Directions:

Saute the nuts and ginger in olive oil for 2-3 minutes and add yogurt. Cook for another 4 min. until it turns brown.

Almonds and walnuts are source of protein and omega-3 oils. They help bone marrow, nerves, and reproductive tissues. They also enhance memory and creativity.42-17722059

Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory.

Yogurt is source of protein, helps absorption of nutrients, and as an active-culture food, it can lower cholesterol and high blood pressure, strengthen our heart and immune system by reducing inflammation.

Walk to Save a Relationship ?

Friday, October 17th, 2008

We know that a walk is good for us because it is an exercise shortcut as well as stress relief technique: it clears our mind and helps to get rid of frustration.

Girl walking with her dog.

It also might help to save our relationships if we are smart enough to walk for a walk away… from the argument.  Is it really  true? Then why it is so difficult to do so ?  When I was in my first marriage, my mother used to ask me to shut my  mouth, open the door and close it behind me at the beginning of my fight, before it got ugly.  Did I follow her piece of advice, at least once? Hmmmm.  A good news for me is that  I’ve learnt my lessons, even it took me a couple of marriages

What about you?

Unfortunately, a lot of women don’t know how to take advantage of  their life lessons, no matter how old they are.  I have a lot of clients who are very successful careerwise, but as for their private lives, they act as teenagers at their 30s, 40s and even in 60s!  And I always ask myself why that is ??!

P.S. Did you know that walnuts, almonds, pears, apples are natural stress busters? A bowl of oatmeal with walnuts and raisins is the best (quickest and healthiest) breakfast ever.

Almonds are rich in vitamin E,and we know they are very good for our skin. But have you ever tried almond’s butter to exfoliate?

As for apples and pears (can be used as a homemade facial), have them as healthy snacks all day long. more on stress busters
