How to Use Papaya as a Beauty Remedy to Make Luscious Lips

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

In a previous article on lycopene, we learned that super foods can be used to protect our skin and face from sun damage; papaya, rich in natural enzymes and alpha-hydroxy acids is one such food. Papaya and other fruits, can also be used to make a honey face mask by adding honey or plain yogurt. But did you know that you can also use papaya to make your lips look luscious and flake free?  I would like to share with you some tips on how to make a lip facial to exfoliate your lips with papaya from The Green BeaLip Facial and Natural Face Masks as Exfoliating Beauty Remediesuty Guide.com

For a quick lip exfoliation, use ripe, juicy papaya. You can use leftovers from a fruit salad or dessert. Mash the papaya flesh into a juicy paste so that you get at least a tablespoon of puree.

Apply a generous amount of papaya pulp to the lips and skin around the lips. Leave on for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse off with warm water and enjoy smooth, flake-free lips.

For an even quicker exfoliation, rub the inside of papaya skin against your lips for a few minutes.

By the way, pineapple has also natural enzymes and alpha-hydroxy acids that can be used for face exfoliation to rejuvenate, restore elasticity and add glow to our skin.  So, next time you want to make a pineapple and papaya smoothie as an energy booster or midday snack, don’t forget it is one of the best lip facial beauty remedies.

Brightening and Balancing Natural Face Masks to Feel and Look Fabulous

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Do you like creating your own natural face masks? It only takes a couple of minutes to make a beauty mask with ingredients you have at home, for example, honey can be used as a simnatural beauty face mask beauty remediesple honey face mask.

A facial mask is also a perfect stress and nutrition technique which I refer to as facial meditation. Here are some ideas for facial meditation I adopted from www.wholeliving.com

Now, make one of these beauty remedies – lie down and relax – enjoy your “Me Time”.

Don’t forget to breathe…….

* Green-Papaya Brightening Face Mask

This brightening mask beauty remedy exfoliates and stimulates circulation in the face.

-unripe papaya contains natural alpha-hydroxy acids and high levels of papain, an enzyme that helps dissolve dead skin cells:

-yogurt adds lactic acid (another alpha-hydroxy) and gives the mask a creamy texture:

-honey helps skin retain moisture.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unripe papaya, diced
1 teaspoon plain yogurt
1 teaspoon honey

Directions:

Blend ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Apply to clean skin using fingers; leave on for 8 to 10 minutes. Rinse off using cool water and pat dry. Finish by applying a gentle moisturizer. When left on, the mask should tingle slightly; if you have sensitive skin or prefer a gentler exfoliation, use ripe papaya, which has less papain.

*Balancing Yogurt and Green Tea Face Mask

Ingredients:

1 egg white

1 tbsp steeped green tea

½ tbsp plain organic yogurt

2 tbsp oatmeal, finely ground

½ tsp honey

Directions:

Whip egg white until foamy. Mix green tea and oatmeal; combine with egg white, yogurt and oatmeal; add honey. Apply to clean skin and leave on for 8-10 minutes then rinse.

Better Mood, Glowing Skin, Healthy Heart and More Reasons to Try Krill Oil

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Do you remember our grand mother told us that fish oil was good for us? Apparently she was right. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, walnuts, flax seeds/oil help us have a healthy heart, boost our immune system, get us in the better mood, reduce PMS, improve our skin.

On my Radio Show for Women ‘Feel and Look Fabulous with Irina” Pamela Reilly, Naturopath and Raw Food Coach talked about importance of Omega-3 fatty acids for our skin especially in winter. Click here to listen.

Dr. Mercola strongly recommends fish oil, and here are some reasons why:

So, if you’re looking for a way to enhance your health with a product that really delivers the goods, then please take a minute to discover how Krill for Women can help you.

Krill oil overcomes the shortcomings of fish oils because of its high levels of antioxidants — helpful for your health for their own sake.

The antioxidants it contains also ensure that the oils don’t oxidize and become rancid inside your body* — important because oxidation leads to the formation of those nasty free radicals. Read more about Krill Oil.

So let us be smart and incorporate more walnuts, flax seeds, organic salmon and maybe Krill Oil in our diet if we want to feel and look fabulous, shall we?

How to Reduce Wrinkles with Plain Water

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Have you ever sprinkled your face with water to moisturize and reduce wrinkles? If not, it’s the time to start now when it is hot outside. One day when I was spraying my roses, my mother told me to do the same with my face. Hmmmm, to spray my face?  Yes, indeed. She gave me this tip a long time ago and as always, she new what she was talking about.o

With age our skin loses ability to hold moisture, so here is a tip how easily we can help our face get more moisture and reduce fine lines.

We can spray our faces with water the way we spray flowers, orchids in particular. The only difference is that the water should be purified. By the way, do you use shower head filter? As I  mentioned  in the article Why Strawberries, Peaches and Cherries Can Be Dangerous for Our Health, it’s better and safer to use purified water while showering in order to avoid toxins overload ( toxic chemicals penetrating through our skin, especially if water is hot and our pores are open).

To mist our skin from time to time during the day we can use rose or lavender water from a store or the one we can make ourselves: all we need is a bottle with a pump sprayer and purified water. We can also add some rose or lavender essential oils, but plain water will work perfectly well.

If you work at home and are not wearing makeup, you can use any spray. If you worry about disturbing your makeup, then try to find a very fine spray. Mist your skin at least three times a day - the more often, the better especially for wrinkled and aging skin.

P.S. If you missed my interview with naturopath Pamela Reilly on my radio show for women “Feel and Look Fabulous with Irina“, it’s the right time to catch up. Click here to listen to Tips On How to Take Care of Our Dry Skin.
